Recognition feels nice - attention is weird

I like to stay under the radar and I try not to seek attention.

When #Firstbreak magazine approached me to write an article about MKS Consulting Ltd., secondhandseismic.com, and my personal contribution to the geophysical industry, I was initially hesitant.

I don't really know why it's difficult to embrace positive attention - but the exercise of reflecting on 'how did we get here' was very uplifting.

I think I sometimes confuse humility with embarrassment. If given a complement, I tend to deflect or make a joke to take the attention off of me. It is embarrassing to be thrust into focus of an individual or a group, however I need to remember those who are trying to give a complement or recognition are usually not trying to embarrass anyone.

Reflecting on my journey over the past few years filled me with gratitude. I can't believe the growth and learning that has transpired. I can't believe some of the barriers and challenges we have faced and overcome while trying to #findsolutions for our customers. I can't believe some of the successes we have achieved. I can't believe how much we have grown.

Building a trusted global network of like-minded people in the #geophysical industry is impossible without the support of so many friends. I'm forever grateful for the network we are part of and hope we can continue to grow and support the #seismic industry.

Thanks to everyone and anyone who has been there with us through this journey. We are just getting started.

Please check out the #firstbreak Personal Record article if you have a moment (Mag Page 21. ), we are pretty darn proud of it.
